Unlike private health insurers, at Benenden we’re not trying to replace the NHS. Instead we offer our valued members a dedicated healthcare service which works as a complement to their existing NHS entitlement.
We can also offer alternative services to members who are struggling to access the care they need through the NHS.
Our status as a friendly, not for profit society makes us pretty special too. We are able to really focus on the needs of our members without having to worry about paying or consulting shareholders, and this helps us to stay true to our original member-focused values:
- Everyone pays the same low weekly rate of £1.25
- You can add family and friends for the same contribution rate
- No exclusions for pre-existing conditions
Even with this increased demand, over 90% of those members who needed our help said they were very satisfied with the overall service provided by the Society, which is important for you to know, in case you should ever need our help.
In 2007, Benenden Healthcare offered our help to over 95,000 of our members and spent more than £50M delivering first class medical services (up by over £6M from 2006).
